The devices represent high packing density for applications utilizing multiple components in a parallel configuration. The stacked construction of fully molded capacitors is compatible with a wide range of SMT board assembly processes including reflow solder or conductive epoxy.
OX3's Solution: OX3 has engineered dozens of carrier tapes over time to accommodate these and similar switch mode power supplies for Kyocera. To ensure a proper fit, Kyocera has sometimes called on OX3 to manually measure components in each batch of power supplies since their dimensions may vary slightly due to custom soldering requirements. By customizing the carrier tapes, OX3 ensures that the switch mode power supplies are properly packaged and ready for assembly onto circuit boards.
